Have you the last Version 4.12.10-D vom 08/08/2022 ?


for security to make a backup of profiles and / or components files that you created!

Changing the registration system (Code / Key) NOT compatible with version 3.xx
- Send me the new software code using copy and paste (NO screenshot )
- Register the software with the unlock key provided
- TraCFoil then generates a file tracfoil.lic
- Just copy the file tracfoil.lic on a disk or other medium ... whether by use formatting or change your disk
In the case of a change in format or PC hard disk:
- Repeat the installation from ctracfoilD.exe (do not forget the Airfoils)
Please Read "Phase 1 installation of the TraCFoil software"
- Copy the file tracfoil.lic in the directory Tracfoil.
Normally the software must be version recorded, if not, send me the new software code (by copy-paste No screenshot) and N° of release, and I send back a new FREE Liberation Key.

The separator (symbol) decimal will be the point
The symbol decimal must be the point "." (dot). Otherwise you will receive an error message when launching TraCFoil and errors on export DXF files on the profiles generated.

You can use the SepdeciVb5 program that lets you change the decimal symbol directly.

I just change my PC or reformat my drive, my old key no longer seems valid, what to do?
I suppose that TraCFoil is already installed on the PC, otherwise see below.
Please Read "Phase 1 installation of the TraCFoil software"
- After a fresh install on a new PC, TraCFoil generates a new Softwarecode, just ask me by sending me the new code by copy-paste (NO screenshot) and version number generated by TraCFoil. I send back a new FREE Liberation Key.
- After formatting or change the hard drive, the TraCFoil generates a new code, just copy the file tracfoil.lic generated by TraCFoil at the first install. Otherwise, ask for a new key by sending me the new Softwarecode by copy-paste (the code should look like 45DF89A76A5F7D2D_TF_4.12.10-D NO screenshot)and version number generated by TraCFoil. I send back a new FREE Liberation Key.

I installed TraCFoil and I paid the license.Today I have to reinstall TraCFoil on my new PC, how to get the full version?
If possible make a backup of airfoils and/or files created from the old PC!
- Go on the download page, download the trial version ctracfoilD.exe and file ("Free Pack Airfoils") profils.exe,
- Install from ctracfoilD.exe (do not forget the profiles) please read "Phase 1 installation of the TraCFoil software",
- Start TraCFoil and install the airfoils, and go to then menu / Registration where is the code and version number,
- Send me the Softwarecode by copy -paste (the code should look like 45DF89A76A5F7D2D_TF_4.12.10-D NO screenshot) ask for a new key, and I give a FREE new key.

TraCFoil was installed on my PC fixed and I just got a new laptop (or another PC)
- Install from ctracfoilD.exe (do not forget the profiles) please read "Phase 1 installation of the TraCFoil software",

How to check that my version is registered
If your update is OK you are back on a registered version, and you must have this screen.

If you run in a demo version, you need to see this dialog box:

TraCFoil generated a new code, just ask me by sending me a new key, but send me the new code by copy-past (NO screenshot!) generated by TraCFoil.
To have a registered version again,
Copy the Software code (by copying and pasting (no screenshot!) of the dialog box of the TraCFoil Software installed on your computer, and send it to me.
the code should look like 45DF89A76A5F7D2D_TF_4.12.10-D

How to update ?
- Use the menu Help/Check version  (Hilfe/Check version)

All the registred users received a mail when there is a new major update. Updates to TraCFoil are free and are posted on web site in the form of an update file, majtracfoilD.exe. The link to download this file is on the mail registration send with the code.

Internet connection to use TraCFoil ?
In no way, the software works, is related to a connection on the Internet.
You can install and use without connected on the Internet.
- To install TraCFoil on a computer not connected to the Internet:
With a PC connected to Internet, go to the download page, download the trial version ctrafoilD.exe and "Free Pack Airfoils"(airfoils). Then copy the files on a USB key or on a CD and make an installation on the PC not connected to the internet, then send me the Softwarecode by copy -paste (the code should look like 45DF89A76A5F7D2D_TF_4.12.10-D NO screenshot) ask for a new key.

How ordering ? Payment by Credit card by Paypal ?
First download the trial version and test ....The recording is done in software, go to then menu / Registration where is the code and version number.
- If the trial period (45-day trial) is exceeded you can find the softwarecode at the start of TraCFoil into the "Your evaluation period has expired".

Indicate the Software Code generated by TraCFoil and the Number of Release found in the dialog box "Please, Register" into the registration page, and click on Paypal "Register Now" button
1. Fill-in the information form
2. Choose your type of credit card or PayPal Account
3. Enter your credit card information
4. You will receive a purchase receipt by e-mail
5. At the receipt of Paypal confirmation, I send you by email, in the 48-72 hours**, the license version and the Liberation key. (** Except in cases of annual shutdown)

How do I get the software, my trial period has expired?
As the trial period (45-day trial) is exceeded you can find the softwarecode at the start of TraCFoil into the "Your evaluation period has expired". Go to the registration page indicate the Software Code generated by TraCFoil and the Number of Release found in the dialog box "Please, Register".

I can not find the software code to register!
Go to this menu ? (Help) and Registration : Copy the software Softwarecode, NO screenshot, and the version number of your dialog box "Please register"

Update policy ?
- Use the menu Help/Check version

I downloaded TraCFoil ans install, but there is only 2 airfoils in the pack !
You must download the "Free Pack Airfoils" and install it.
TraCFoil use the DAT Files from UIUC Airfoil Coordinate Database and the files from my airfoils page.

In the airfoils list, I have nothing in the directory HD
You must look at the "TYPE dat or cor" in the dialog box, in this directory the extension are *.cor..

How do I print multiple profiles on an A4 sheet ?
You must use in the Page Setup menu , the print position of relative reference line.
For the first rib is indicate for example 30 mm, and print,

When I open an airfoil component file, I have an error message !
Please check your directories :
I suppose you have installed TraCFoil in the directory "C:\Program Files\TraCFoil".
- Make a subdirectory for your airfoils files, you name it "airfoils" for example and a subdirectory for your Set of ribs, you name it "profils evolutifs" for example.
- You must copy the airfoils files in the subdirectory "C:\Program Files\TraCFoil\airfoils".
Run TraCFoil, go to the View menu and,
- Select in Template defaults Select Coordinates Path (in red), use the Browse button to select the subdirectory "C:\Program Files\TraCFoil\airfoils",
- Select Coordinates Path Set of ribs, use the Browse button to select the subdirectory ""C:\Program Files\TraCFoil\profils evolutifs",
- Click on Save button.
See the coordinates of your airfoil, something is wrong.

When I open an airfoil generate by "set of ribs"I have an error message!

How Generate full set of ribs ?
Use the Menu "Generate full set of ribs"
You must enter :
- the number of intermediate ribs,
- the airfoil and major chord length,
- the airfoil and minor chord length.
- Click on Compute or press "Enter" for saving airfoils on the disk on the subdirectory "C:\Program Files\tracfoilE\setofribs"
Now open the Airfoil xxxxxR1.dat, use the percent position for you spars and holes, and save your configuration with the "Save as Airfoil components".
Open the Airfoil xxxxxR2.dat, and so on.....

I have an error message xxx, like that "the component is not registered ..." .
Error message at launch: Missing file MSVBVM50.DLL :
Error message at launch: The language DLL.dll or 409 could not be found
- repeat the complete installation from ctracfoilE.exe.
Other cases: Contact me by indicating the exact error message.

Do not confuse an airfoil file, a file rib component, a rib and a DXF file ?
- airfoil file - Profildatei :
TraCFoil use *.dat Selig's x,y format or *.cor (coordinate file)
The format is :
The first line describes the airfoil.

File *.tra (TraCFoil) = a file of the components of your rib (the airfoil file, the chord, the sheeting thickness, the leading edge width, the spars, the holes, the trailing edge width, the station lines, foam, washout angle... )
Open only by menu File /Open Rib components

TraCFoil can NOT open that files
Can be exported from TraCFoil only via menu File/Export to DXF

Exploiting DXF
TraCFoil uses the DXF Reference Autodesk DXF (AutoCAD ® Release 14 database and AutoCAD ® 2000) normally compatible with all versions

I now rather recommend qcad.org hich offers a free community version instead

DXF file is not correct when I open it in a CAD drawing program.

When I try to open an airfoil, I get this error message: Coordinate are the same on line X=0and line x=0
So edit the airfoil file by Utilities/Create new coordinates file or a notepad, check that the coordinates at the line X=0 which should be twice, if yes delete on row.
Warning: check that the decimal symbol must be the point (dot). Check Control Panel / Regional Settings / Number. See how to (in french).

I sent an email and I have no answer? what are the possible reasons ?
- You use IncrediMail and all messages sent go to the trash!
- You've sent a mail with an attachment over 2MB and therefore the mail is in the trash, if you want to send files using an appropriate system!
